On May 8th, 2023, the official opening of MECOTEC China took place at the German Center in Shanghai in the presence of high profile representatives from politics and industry including Wang Liping (Economic and Commercial Officer, German Consulate General in Shanghai), Christian Sommer (CEO German Center Shanghai), Wang Liping (Vice Mayor of the City of Taicang) as well as guests who are enthusiastic about cryotechnology.
"We are proud to be represented directly here in China," explains Enrico Klauer, founder and CEO of MECOTEC GmbH, "to be close to our existing and future customers. Due to the high demand and the growing potential that we see in the Chinese market, we decided to establish a subsidiary.”
MECOTEC China will be managed by Simon YIP. Dr. Friedrich Rheinheimer, COO of MECOTEC Group: "We are happy to have won Mr. YIP for this task, who - with over 22 years of experience in the fitness industry in China - is very familiar with many of our target groups. In the past he has built up a very successful business that imported and distributed fitness equipment.”
Simon Yip, Managing Director of MECOTEC China, emphasizes: "I see enormous growth potential for our company since we are the only manufacturer of electric cold chambers in China with our own warehouse in Taicang. From there we can supply our customers directly and quickly. I look forward to working with my team to further develop MECOTEC into the market leader in this environment."
Following the official ceremony with opening speeches, an official ribbon cutting and a traditional Chinese lion dance symbolising luck and prosperity, all those present had the opportunity to personally test the cryo:one+ cryo chamber set up on site with a temperature of -85 °C.
With the founding of this subsidiary in China, the world market leader from Saxony-Anhalt (Germany) is continuing to expand its growth and expansion course globally: In 2021, MECOTEC France, previously operating as a joint venture, was taken over 100%, in 2022 MECOTEC founded the MENA office (Middle East and Northern Africa) in Dubai. With strategic partnerships in Australia and other countries in Asia, the MECOTEC Group is strategically well positioned in this region of the world. Another direct presence in Asia is already being planned.
